Objective This study aims to survey for current situation of medication safety and to analyze the influencing factors of medication safety in elderly hypertensive patients in community. To provide a reliable theoretical basis for exploring and solving the status of unsafe medication use in elderly hypertensive patients in community. Methods The study used cluster random sampling method.Using self-designed questionnaire to survey 678 old patients in Jilin communities the level of the elderly medication safety status quo and its influence factors.Applying SPSS18.0 statistical software for data descriptive analysis. Results 1.Among the elderly hypertension patients in community,61.8% had adverse medication reactions,42.92% had not received health education related to medication use safety.21.98% of them took medication more than three kinds and 38.94% of them took medication for more than 5 years.2.The score of medication safety knowledge of elderly hypertension patients in community was 9.70(±2.90),and the score rate was 57.06%.60.5% of the elderly hypertension patients in the community did not understand the side effects of traditional Chinese medicine.70.2% did not know that health products had no therapeutic effect and might cause side effects. The score of medication safety attitude was 51.55(±8.85),and the score rate was 64.44.30.4% of the elderly hypertension patients in the community thought that it was necessary to know the name of the medicine accurately.44.2% thought that the curative effect of traditional Chinese medicine and health products was better and safer. The score of safe behavior was 8.52(±2.05),and the score rate was 60.86.Unsafe medication use behavior of elderly hypertension patients in community is manifested in random increase or decrease, withdrawal of drugs, failure to measure blood pressure frequently to understand the curative effect of drugs, purchase of health care products, and irregular cleaning up of expired drugs.Failed to read the instructions and did not actively consult drug related information and knowledge.3.Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed that the influencing factors of medication safety knowledge of elderly hypertension patients in community were educational level, whether they had received health education, alcohol consumption, payment type of medical expenses, degree of hypertension, duration of hypertension, etc. The influencing factors of medication safety behavior were education degree, degree of hypertension, payment type of medical expenses, drinking condition, duration of taking medicine, kinds of antihypertensive drugs and health education(P < 0.05).Conclusion There are many safety problems in the use of medication in elderly hypertensive patients in the community, which is the result of the joint action of many factors.Community medical service organizations should attach great importance to the medication safety of elderly hypertension patients in the community, actively carry out targeted medication safety and health education activities and improve the safety of medication use.To solve the problem of medication safety of elderly hypertensive patients in our community.
