Objective: In this study,we investigated whether serum Serum malondialdehyde levels correlate with the recent prognosis of patients with Severe traumatic brain injury(sTBI)in plateau area under low pressure and hypoxia.Plateau severe craniocerebral injury related mechanisms to guide the treatment of severe craniocerebral injury in the plateau. Methods: Glasgow score of patients admitted to hospital for traumatic brain injury, selected Glasgow ? 8 points of brain injury patients for the study, collected on the 1st,3rd,7th and 15 th days of patients venous blood centrifuged, centrifuged and then serum was cryopreserved,Until the case was collected after the use of thiobarbituric acid(TBA)condensation method to detect serum MDA levels.Follow-up was performed on patients with severe craniocerebral injury who were hospitalized and discharged after treatment. The follow-up period was 3 months to determine if an end point(death)occurred.Patients were divided into two groups: survival group and death group according to whether the end event occurred or not. Finally, statistical methods were used to compare serum MDA levels between the two groups. Results: In the two groups of patients with sTBI,the values of serum MDA measured on the first day after admission were respectively survival group(3.5175 ± 1.0087)and death group(3.6802 ± 1.1668),there was no significant difference between the two groups(P> 0.05).The values of serum MDA in the two groups were 3.8963 ± 1.1172 in the surviving group and 5.1938 ± 2.0699 in the dead group on the third day after admission. There was no significant difference between the two groups in serum MDA(P> 0.05).However,at 7 days after admission, serum MDA levels in the two groups were 3.1641 ± 1.0163 and 5.3420 ± 1.5840,respectively.Serum MDA levels in the death group were significantly higher than those in the surviving group(P <0.05).Patients in the death group had all died before the 15 th day of admission, and no blood was collected on the 15 th day.In the horizontal comparisons within each group, serum MDA levels in the death group were significantly higher than those on the first day of admission on day 3(P <0.05).However,there was no obvious difference between the 7th and the 3rd day. There was no significant difference(P> 0.05)between the two groups on the 1st,3rd,7th day after admission, but between the first day and the 15 th day,and the third Serum MDA levels were significantly different between day and day 15(P <0.05).Conclusion: No significant correlation was found between serum MDA levels and death at day 1 and day 3 in patients with sTBI in high altitude. However,on day 7 of admission, the level of serum MDA was correlated with its final death. The higher the level of serum MDA,the higher the mortality rate of patients.
