Objective: We sought to investigate the distribution of AQP4 gene rs1058427,rs335929,rs3875089,rs455671,rs9951307,in the different nationalities in Qinghai, and determine the influence of the AQP4 gene region on patient outcome after TBI by genotyping tag single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)along AQP4 gene. Methods: Extract all patients' full DNA samples and use PCR – RFLP to verify the AQP4 genotype.Result: There is no difference among the subjects in the character of age, sex,TBI severity(P < 0.05).The distribution of rs1058427,rs335929,rs3875089,rs9951307 in three ethnic team has no statistical significance(P values were 0.63,0.63,0.09,0.44).Distribution of gene Rs455671 in han,Tibetan, hui changes, which is statistically significant(P = 0.04).Overall rate of the prognosis between Tibetan and Han group was different(P < 0.0125),the prognosis of Han and Hui group and the prognosis of the Hui and Tibetan group has no difference(P > 0.0125).Tibetan has better prognosis than Han(P = 0.01).The degree of craniocerebral injury is heavier, the worse prognosis may get(P = 0.01).Rs455671(GA),rs455671(A)has no difference in the influence on the prognosis(P = 0.58),while rs455671(G)genotype has worse prognosis than rs455671(GA)genotypes(P = 0.01).Conclusion: Tibetan groups' overall prognosis rate is higher than that of the Han nationality, and may has no relationship with AQP4 gene SNP rs1058427,rs335929,rs3875089,rs455671,rs9951307,that is not consistent with some recent research, which need further research;rs455671(G)genotype had worse prognosis than rs455671(GA)genotypes(P = 0.01),which need more large sample verification.
