Objective: To understand the prevalence and incidence of simple renal cysts in Jinchang cohort and identify the high-risk populations with simple renal cysts and to explore the influencing factors of the incidence of simple renal cysts and causality among them in order to provide a viable scientific basis for prevention of simple renal cysts in Jinchang cohort. Methods: Based on Jinchang cohort, the prevalence and incidence of simple renal cysts were analyzed in the study.A nested case-control study was applied to explore the causal relationship among different factors and the simple renal cysts, and calculate the odds ratio(OR)and 95%confidence intervals(CI).The multiplicative model of interaction was also used to analyze the effect of interaction between age and culture, smoking and diabetes on the incidence of simple renal cysts in male population and the dose-response relationship reveals the effects of different physiological and biochemical indexes on the incidence of simple renal cysts. Results: 1.The prevalence of simple renal cysts in the Jinchang cohort was 4.64%(6.03%for men and 2.48% for women),and the standardized prevalence was 3.85%.The incidence of simple renal cysts in Jinchang cohort was 2.87%(3.40% for men and 2.09% for women)and the standardized incidence rate was 2.55%.2.Simple renal cysts are the most common renal disease in Jinchang cohort. After matching for confounders, males with low education, smoking, high smoking index,self-reported diabetes, long duration of diabetes, high uric acid will be high-risk populations with simple renal cysts. In the study of unmatched for age,the high age,low education,self-reported circulatory system diseases,self-reported diabetes, long duration of hypertension, and high blood glucose for males in Jinchang cohort are risk factors of incidence of simple renal cysts.3.There is an interaction between age and culture, smoking and diabetes in male population. The presence of two factors will increase the risk of simple renal cysts, which plays a synergistic role. The interaction term OR(95%CI)of high-age and low education level is 3.12(2.53 to 3.85),which can be considered as a positive interaction between age and culture based on the multiplicative model. The interaction OR(95%CI)between age and smoking was 2.79(2.27 to3.43),and the positive interaction between age and smoking existed based on the multiplicativemodel. The interaction OR(95%CI)between age and diabetes was 1.96(1.35 to 2.84),which was considered that age and diabetes had a positive interaction based on the multiplicative model.4.After adjusting confounding factors in the Jinchang cohort, the level of uric acid has a positive,non-linear dose-response relationship with the risk of incidence of simple renal cysts.A positive,non-linear dose-response relationship between age, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure, blood glucose and risk of simple renal cysts was shown in Jinchang cohort with male population. Conclusion: 1.The prevalence and incidence of simple renal cysts in Jinchang cohort are at a moderate level in China. The prevalence and incidence of simple renal cysts in males are higher than that in females. The prevalence and incidence of simple renal cysts increase with increasing age.Middle-aged and old-aged smoking men with low education level are the key subjects for preventing simple renal cysts.2.The incidence of simple renal cysts in Jinchang cohort is related to hypertension. There is a significant dose-response relationship between age, diastolic blood pressure, systolic blood pressure, blood glucose, uric acid and risk of simple renal cysts.Diabetes and hyperuricemia have a causal relationship with the incidence of simple renal cysts.3.There is synergetic interaction between age and culture, smoking, diabetes on risk of simple renal cysts in Jinchang cohort with male population.
