ObjectiveThis study aims to validate the effectiveness of nursing intervention on alleviating negative emotions and improving quality of cancer patients’ life based on story theory,to analyses feasibility of nursing intervention based on story theory in clinical nursing,to provide an operable intervention program for psychological nursing of cancer patients.MethodOn the the basis of reviewing a large number of literatures, this study adopts the method of quasi-experimental research,100 patients who meet the inclusion criteria from Taishan Medical University Affiliated Hospital were divided into two groups. From March to May,50 patients collected into the experimental group(22 cases of patients with Lung cancer,10 cases of patients with esophageal cancer,18 cases of patients with breast cancer). From June to December,50 patients selected into the control group(22 patients with cases of Lung cancer,11 cases of patients with esophageal cancer,17 cases of patients with breast cancer).Based on conventional care, the experimental group received 3 weeks of nursing intervention based on story theory, whereas the control group only followed conventional care. Before and after the intervention, the scores of mood and quality of life were collected by using scales as: POMS-SF,ULS-8,DT and QLQ-C30,thus evaluated the effect of intervention.Result1.Results show that the effect of nursing intervention based on story theory on alleviating negative emotions of cancer patients as following:(1)The score of POMS-SF: With the intervention, scores of POMS-SF and subscales of experimental group are significantly lower than before intervention. The difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).Furthermore,the score of POMS-SF is significantly higher than before(P<0.05),but there is no statistical difference in other subscales incontrol group(P>0.05).In both groups before and after intervention, compare the difference among scores of POMS-SF,POMSD,POMSA,POMSF,POMSC and POMSV.The difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).After intervention scores of experimental group are significantly lower than that of control group.(2)The scores of ULS-8 、 DT after intervention: Scores of ULS-8 and DT in experimental group are significantly lower than before(P<0.05).The score of ULS-8 in control group is significantly higher than before(P<0.05).There is no statistical difference on the score of DT in control group(P>0.05).In both groups before and after intervention, compare the difference among scores of ULS-8 and DT.The difference is statistically significant(P<0.05).After intervention scores of experimental group are significantly lower than that of control group.2.Results show that the effect of nursing intervention based on story theory on improving quality of life of cancer patients as following:After intervention, the experimental group, except the symptom of diarrhea, scores of the functional areas were significantly higher than those before the intervention.Scores of the symptoms and the single items were decreased, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).There is no significant difference between the functional areas and the other symptoms of control group, except items of dyspnea and economic difficulty. There is no statistical difference of social function, dyspnea, diarrhea and economic difficulty(P>0.05).There is no significant difference between before and after intervention in the social function, dyspnea, diarrhea and economic difficulties in the experimental group and control group(P>0.05).Before and after the intervention in the physical function, role function, cognitive function, emotional function, general health and other symptoms, the difference is significant(P<0.05).Conclusion1.The nursing intervention based on story theory demonstrated significant improvement of negative emotions and quality of life, which is a quite practical psychological care for cancer patients.2.The nursing intervention based on story theory may serve as a economical, safe, reliable, and effective programme,by which clinical cancer patients can benefit. |
