Objective:To investigate the changes of plasma DKK-1 levels in Uygur and Han Nationality with coronary heart disease(CHD)of Xinjiang and its influencing factors and clinical significance. Methods:A total of 162 patients were enrolled in Uygur and Han nationality from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, including 61 Uygur and 101 Han.The patients underwent coronary angiography.According to the angiography results,The patients were divided into CHD group(73 Han)and control(48 Han).Concentrations of DKK-1 in all patients were determined. The statistical analysis was carried out between DKK-1 levels and the nationality, sex, age,BMI,blood glucose, blood lipid,Fib,Creatine-kinase(CK),Creatine-kinase isoenzyme(CK-MB),with or without hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking,CHD clinical types and different coronary stenosis degree of patients. Results: Compared with the control, plasma DKK-1 levels were significantly higher in the CHD group, and the difference was statistically significant[CHD(610.7±393.0)pg/ml vs control(404.3±259.9)pg/ml,P=0.037];One-way ANOVA and correlation coefficient analysis suggested that plasma DKK-1 levels had no ethnic difference in patients with CHD[Uygur(631.9±374.6)pg/ml vs Han(594.6±407.1)pg/ml vs,P= 0.816],Women plasma DKK-1 levels were significantly higher than men[women(623.3±531.1)pg/ml vs men(418.8±293.4)pg/ml,P=0.032];The expression of plasma DKK-1 had no correlation with age,BMI,blood glucose, blood lipid,Fib,CK,CK-MB,with or without hypertension, diabetes mellitus, smoking; In different types of CHD,plasma DKK-1 levels in patients with ACS were significantly higher than both of SAP and control, while DKK-1 levels in SAP patients were also higher than the control [ACS(655.9±436.4)pg/ml,SAP(516.5±263.2)pg/ml,P=0.001];In different coronary lesions, plasma DKK-1 levels were significantly higher in severe disease than both of moderate and mild disease [severe disease(845.7±599.6)pg/ml,moderate disease(608.6±358.2)pg/ml,mild disease(544.7±327.4)pg/ml,P=0.031],while there was no significant change between moderate disease and mild disease. Conclusion:Increased Plasma DKK-1 levels had some correlation with the occurrence of CHD in Uygur and Han Nationality.Plasma DKK-1 levels had no ethnic difference while it may be closely related to women, and other conventional CHD risk factors had no correlation with DKK-1.Plasma levels of DKK-1 in patients with ACS were significantly increased, and may suggest the severity of the coronary disease.
