Objective: This study aims to observe the effect of bloodletting therapy on the patients of acute herpes zoster of liver-gallbladder damp heat type.To reach this objective, bloodletting therapy was performed on the patients' skin lesions and pains, together with oral valaciclovir,Yuantong mixture, and lithospermum oil.The effects of bloodletting therapy on the skin lesions and pains of the patients of acute herpes zoster were observed. This study observed whether this treatment could reduce the incidence of post-herpetic neuralgia(PHN),and recorded the number of pains, duration, location, properties, etc. Methods: 1.Patients were randomly divided into experimental group and control group, and each group had 40 patients.2.The control group was treated with oral valaciclovir 0.3g bid,Yuantong mixture 50 ml bid,and lithospermum oil, while experimental group was treated with abovementioned methods and bloodletting therapy.3.After the treatment,if the patient still had unbearable pain and VAS>4,he or she would be given Indomethacin, and the control group was given the same treatment.4.Statistical analysis software SPSS 22.0 was employed to process the experimental data including the time of blister ceasing, the time of crusting, the swelling of erythema, and the time of erythema remission, the pain properties, characteristics, frequency, occurrence time, location, and pain relief after treatment.T test was used for measurement data, and Chi-squared test was used for count data.P < 0.05 indicates that the difference was statistically significant.Result: 1.After the treatment, the average score of VAS was 2.0 ± 2.03 in the experimental group, and 3.50 ± 2.21 in the control group. The VAS in the two groups was significantly lower than that before treatment respectively with P < 0.05,indicating that two groups had statistically significant analgesic effects.2.The average score of the skin rash in the experimental group was 2.71± 2.01,and the average score of the control group was 3.89 ± 2.34.The average score of the skin rash in the two groups was significantly lower than that before treatment respectively with P < 0.05,indicating that the improvement of the rash in the two groups was statistically significant. The average time of blister ceasing, crusting and erythema remission were 2.97 ± 1.53,5.29 ± 1.93,7.53 ± 2.48 in the experimental group, and 4.40±1.82,6.11±1.91,9.76±1.80 in the control group respectively. The average time was all shorter in the experimental group.Using the t test,P values were less than 0.05 for the average time of blister ceasing, and erythema remission, indicating that there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups. However, the time of crusting had no significant difference between the two groups with P values > 0.05.3.After one week of the treatment, the effective rates of the experimental group and the control group were 92% and 78% respectively. The number of patients recovered from the experimental group was more than that of the control group, and the effective rate of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group.Using the Chi-squared test, the difference was not significant between the two groups with P > 0.05.After one week of the treatment, there were 36 patients who did not take the drug in the experimental group, and none of them had PHN.In the control group,31 patients did not take the drug, and one patient had PHN.Conclusion: The addition of bloodletting therapy in the acute stage can shorten the time of blister ceasing, erythema remission, reduce the swelling of erythema, facilitate the recovery of the skin, and significantly relieve the pain.
