Object:The clinical research on treating children with cough variant asthma belongs to accumulation of phlegm-heat in the lung syndrome with modified Ding Chuan decoction,to further clarify its efficacy and safety,in order to promote the application in clinical practice,to provide new ideas for the traditional chinese medicine(TCM)treatment of children with CVA.Methods:60 children with CVA belong to accumulation of phlegm-heat in the lung syndrome were randomly divided into treatment group and control group(30 cases),the treatment group was given modified Ding Chuan decoction, the control group was given Montelukast sodium chewable tablets. The two groups take 14 days as 1 treatment course, treat and observe 1 treatment course. The main symptoms, secondary symptoms improvement and the general curative effect of TCM syndrome were observed before and after treatment in the two groups.Results:(1)The two groups have statistically significant differences in the total score of TCM syndrome, main symptom scores and secondary symptom scores(P<0.01)before and after treatment, indicating that the treatment group and the control group are both effective in the treatment of CVA.(2)In the main symptoms, after 2 week’s treatment, the comparison of the scores in cough frequency and degree between two groups were not statistically significant(P>0.05).The comparison of the score of expectoration quantity between two groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),and the treatment group is better than the control group.(3)In the secondary symptoms, after 2 week’s treatment, compared the two groups in the improvement of chest tightness, was not statistically significant(P>0.05);comparing the improvement of the two groups after treatment in red throat and shortness of breath, thirsty, urine and stool aspects, were statistically significant(P<0.05),the treatment group is better than the control group.(4)The total effective rate of TCM syndrome in the treatment group was 97%,while the total effective rate of the control group was 90%,with no statistical significance(P>0.05),indicating the treatment group and the control group have the considerable effect on the total effective rate of TCM syndrome. The recovered markedly effective rate of treatment group is 50%,recovered markedly effective rate of control group is 23%,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion:Modified Ding Chuan decoction and Montelukast sodium chewable tablets in treating the children’s cough variant asthma belongs to accumulation of phlegm-heat in the lung syndrome are both effective in improving the symptom of cough. However, the modified Ding Chuan decoction in reducing the expectoration quantity and improving children’s red throat, shortness of breath, thirsty, dry stool and yellow urinate,is superior to the Montelukast sodium chewable tablets, and is worthy to be popularized in clinic.
