This master's thesis is composed of two chapters. The first chapter is to study the chemical composition of Polygoni multiflori Caulis. The second chapter was summarized the advance of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.from four aspects: plant origin and morphology, chemical constituents and, pharmacological activities and clinical applications.Polygonaceae plants of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.is a traditional Chinese herbal medicine for multi-site administration. Its roots, canes and leaves are called Polygoni multiflori Radix.Polygoni multiflori Caulis.Folium of Polygonum multiflorum Thunb.Due to leaves of Polygonum multiflorum and Polygoni multiflori Caulis origining from different parts of the same plant.Wetherthe their chamical constituents are different or not is noe clear. So the chemical constituents of leaves of polygonum multiflorumThunb was conducted. The extrats of leaves were isolated and purified by silica gel,Sephadex LH-20 and ODS column chromatographic methods.Thirteen compounds were isolated and identified from the leaves of polygonum multiflorum. The main structural types are anthraquinones and flavonoids.Among them,isolariciresinol-9-O-?-D-xyloside is also isolated from the leaves of polygonum multiflorum Thunb. The compound was first isolated from plants of the family Polygonaceae,Which expand the understanding of the material basis of the Polygonaceae plants and laid the material basis for their pharmacological activities. It is based on the material extracted and separated from the leaves of Radix Polygoni. In additionly, twenty six compounds, containing one new compounds, were isolated from the Polygoni multiflori Caulis.By means of various chromatographic separation techniques and modern spectral analysis methods. The structures of these compounds are related to anthraquinones, stilbene glycoside, flavonoids, alkanes and so on.Twenty six compounds were isolated from the ethanol extract of the leaves of polygonum multiflorum.Among them, five are quinones, one is stilbene glucoside, five are flavonoids, five are chromogenic ketones, one is ketorolacone, and the other is nine,2-(2'-hydroxypropyl)-5-carboxymethyl-7-hydroxychromone(1)is a new compound.2,5-dimethyl-7-hydroxychromone-7-O-?-D-glucop-yranoside(6),protocatechuicacid(8),methylgallate(9),torachrysone-8-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(10),polygonimitin B(11),quercetin(13),quercetin-3-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(14),noreugenin-7-O-?-D-glu copyranoside(15),kaempfero(17),genistin(18),hyperin(19),caffeicacid(20),dodecane(22),tridecane(23),tetradecane(24)were isolated from the Polygoni multiflori Caulis.for the first time.In this thesis,we systematically studied the chemical constituents of the vine, and reviewed the research literature of the flesh of Polygonum multiflorum in recent decades. From the aspects of its plant resources, chemical composition and pharmacological activties, which provide the foundation for the future development of the source.
