Objective:To design a static traction model and watch the structure change under static traction. Methods: 20 SD rats were included in our experiment. The intervertebral disc spaces between 7/8,8/9 and 9/10 were tracted by 1mm.Then,we collected the samples and tested the structure change by X-ray,MRI,tissue slice and RT-PCR.Results: After four weeks' traction, the nucleus pulposus manifested a high signal in T2 sequence. While the tissue slice showed that there were no sign of inflammation or edema.Meanwhile, the anabolism of aggrecan in intervertebral disc was enhanced. Conclusion: The static traction could keep water content in nucleus pulposus by enhancing the anabolism of aggrecan.
