Objective: To investigate the accuracy of three-dimensional preoperative templating for acetabular prostheses implantaion in total hip arthroplasty. Methods: Between October 2016 and May 2017,the data of 20 cases scheduled for primary total hip arthroplasty in the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University were collected. The CT thin slice scan data of patients were imported into Mimics software.The3 D pre-operative planning was performed using Mimics software to predict the acetabular component size, acetabular component abduction angle and hip rotation center position. The results were compared with post-operative results.Results:85%(17/20)components were predicted exactly and 15%(3/20)components were predicted with one size using 3D planning. There was no significant difference between the 3D planned acetabular component abduction angle(3D plan 39.40°±4.18°,postoperative 39.77°±4.76°,t=-0.747,p=0.464),hip rotation center distance(horizontal distance: 3D plan 82.89±5.17 mm,postoperative 82.14±5.8mm,t=2.059,p=0.053;vertical distance: 3D plan 47.38±6.95 mm,postoperative 48.32±8.40 mm,t=-1.246,p=0.228),and that found post-operatively.Conclusion:3D pre-operative planning using Mimics software is an accurate and reliable technique in total hip arthroplasty.
