| Purpose To observe TAM(Tumor Associated Macrophage)marker CD68 and Stabilin-1 positive macrophage infiltration in gastric cancer tissues;to investigate relationship between CD68 and Stabilin-1 macrophage in gastric cancer tissues and clinical pathological parameters of gastric cancer;and to analyze correlation of Stabilin-1(+)macrophages and M2 macrophages in gastric cancer tissues.Method Tissue microarrays(TMA)and IHC was used to detected the expression of CD68 and Stabilin-1 in 371 gastric cancer cases and 40 “normal” tissue adjacent to carcinoma.Expression of CD68(+)and Stabilin-1(+)macrophages with the clinical pathological parameters of gastric cancer was statistically analyzed;Survival of the cases in combination with CD68(+)and Stabilin-1(+)macrophages were analyzed.Result 1.Expression of CD68(+)macrophages significantly correlated with differentiation(p<0.001)and histological type(p=0.002)of tumor;2.Expression of Stabilin-1(+)macrophages significantly correlated with differentiation(p=0.039),TNM stage(p=0.006),T stage(p=0.001)and histological type(p=0.005)of tumor,but not statistically significant with the age,gender,tumor size,metastasis;3.No relations between CD68(+)or Stabilin-1(+)macrophages and survival of th ecases were found(p>0.05).Conclusion 1.Expression of CD68 protein was related to degree of tumor differentiation and histological type of gastric cancer;2.Expression of Stabilin-1 protein was related to degree of tumor differentiation,TNM stage,T stage and histological type;3.Expressions of CD68 and Stabilin-1 protein were not correlated with the prognosis of patients with gastric cancer;4.CD68(+)/Stabilin-1(+)cells were dominant in gastric cancer tissue,indicating Stabilin-1(+)cells might be a special phenotype in TAMs,exerting a synergistic effect on tumorgenesis and development of gastric cancer.Correlation between Stabilin-1(+)macrophages and TAMs in progression and metastasis of gastric cancer is worth revisiting. |
