Objective The aim of this study is to discuss and evaluate the technical feasibility, safety, and short-term efficacy of laparoscopy-assisted gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer(T4).Methods A retrospective study was performed comparing LAG and OG for advanced gastric cancer(T4).109 patient with advanced gastric cancer(T4)underwent LAG between June 2011 and Jul 2014 were enrolled and these people were compared with149 advanced gastric cancer(T4)patients underwent OG during same period. The comparison was based on the operative and postoperative measures, and follow-up results. Results The time to first flatus, and first ambulation time, and post-operative stay were significantly less in LAG group than those in OG group(P<0.05).And the mean number of resected lymph nodes(LNS)between the LAG group and OG group was similar(P?0.05).Furthermore,the time of surgery is longer for LAG group than OG group [(261.3±42.7)min vs.(217.2±27.4)min,P=0.411].Conclusions Laparoscopy-assisted D2 radical gastrectomy is feasible, effective and has comparative short-term efficacy compared with open gastrectomy for advanced gastric cancer(T4).
