Object:To investigate the changes of thalamic diffusion tensor imaging(DTI)in patients with epileptogenic focal cortical dysplasia(FCD)and its clinical relevance.Methods:1.Collect 46 cases of FCD patients diagnosed by MR in our hospital from March 2015 to July 2017.FCD 15 cases were confirmed by surgery(8 males and 7females).Age range: 7-47 years old, average age 24.8 At the age of 15 years,15 healthy control groups matched with gender, age and education were collected.2.All patients underwent conventional 3.0N MRI scans(transverse(ax)T1WI,T2 WI,DWI,sag T1 WI,coronal T2FLAIR;diffusion tensor imaging.Sequence(DTI).3.Through the AW4.4 workstation Function tool software,DTI was post-processed to obtain DTI parameters of bilateral thalamus measured in FCD patients and controls: mean diffusion coefficient(ADC)and anisotropy score(FA).4.Statistical Analysis: We will use SPSS 23.0 statistical software. The measured values are expressed as mean±standard deviation(x ±s).The paired t-test was used to compare the bilateral thalamus between the FCD group and the control group. An independent sample t-test was used to compare the bilateral thalamus on the ipsilateral and contralateral sides of the FCD group and the control group.Test level ? = 0.05,P <0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results(1)the FA values in the thalamus of the FCD group were significantly lower than those of the contralateral thalamus(0.237 ± 0.053 vs.0.288 ± 0.046,P=0.001),whereas the FA values of the thalamus on both sides of the control group were not significantly different.Differences(0.271 ± 0.038 vs.0.277 ± 0.039,P = 0.611).(2)the ADC value of the thalamus in the FCD group was significantly lower thanthat in the contralateral thalamus(8.727 ± 0.420 vs.9.060 ± 0.588,P=0.006).However,the ADC value of the thalamus was not seen in the healthy control group.Significant differences(8.931±0.379 vs 8.956±0.505,P=0.827).(3)the FA values of the thalamus in the FCD group were significantly lower than those in the control group(0.237 ± 0.053 vs 0.271 ± 0.038 P <0.05).The FA value of the contralateral thalamus in the FCD group and the control group There was no significant difference in the FA values of the contralateral thalamus(all P > 0.05).(4)there was no statistical difference in the thalamic ADC value between the FCD group and the thalamic ADC value in the healthy control group(P>0.05).There was no significant difference in the ADC value between the contralateral thalamus in the FCD group and the contralateral thalamic ADC in the healthy control group(all P>0.05).Conclusion:The DTI parameters of bilateral thalamus in FCD patients were significantly different, and the FA and ADC values of the affected thalamus were significantly lower than those of the contralateral thalamus;however, the FA and FA values of the healthy side of the FCD group were not significantly different from those of the control group.DTI has important application value in the diagnosis of FCD patients.
