Objective:We aim to further discuss about the etiological characteristics of acute respiratory virus infection among children in Wuxi. Methods:We collected respiratory secretions swabs specimen from children with acute respiratory infection from January 2014 to December 2015 at Wuxi Secondary People's Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University.Direct immunofluorescence was used to test the seven common respiratory viruses:virus antigen of respiratory syncytial virus(RSV),adenovirus(ADV),influenza virus type A and B(Inf-A ? Inf-B),parainfluenza virus type1?3(PIV1?3).In total,we collected the clinical data of 680 children with acute respiratory infection.Result:Of the 680 specimens,232 positive cases(34.11%)were detected. From high to low,the rank of positive rate of the seven common viruses was RSV with 110 cases(16.18%),Inf-B with 36 cases(5.29%),Inf-B with 34 cases(5.00%),ADV with 26 cases(3.82%),PIV2 with 12 cases(1.76%),PIV1 with 10 cases(1.47%),PIV3 with 4 cases(0.59%).Gender in the overall detection rate of positive no difference(P = 0.15).The common viral pathogen varied at different age and season(P<0.001).The highest virus positive rate was detected at 0?1 age group and the lowest at 1?3 age group.0?1-years old and 3?6 years old was the age vulnerable to RSV and Inf-B respectively. In different seasons respiratory virus detection rate different(P<0.001),in winter the highest detection rate(42.72%).in summer the lowest detection rate(15.69%).Conclusion:(1)RSV is one of the most important viruses leading to children acute respiratory infection in Wuxi.(2)The distribution of virus positive rate and types are different in different age group and different season.
