Objective: To investigate the expressions of IL-11,STAT3 and p-STAT3 in gastric mucosa of patients with CSG(chronic superficial gastritis),CAG(chronic atrophic gastritis)and EGC(early gastric cancer),and research the correlation between the expression of interleukin 11(IL-11)in gastritis and EGC and with features of sex and age. Methods:Theendoscopic examination consistent with pathology results in 90 patients with CSG,CAG and EGC,the gastric tissue specimens of these patients were collected. The expression of protein IL-11,STAT3 and p-STAT3 was detected using immunohistochemistry and Western blot in tissue of 40 of cases Gastritis and 50 of cases early stage of gastric cancer, and the IL-11 m RNA was quantified by RT-PCR;then the correlation between IL-11 and features of sex and age were analysed. Results: 1.The results of immunohistochemistry demonstrate: the positive rate of IL-11 was remarkedly increased in EGC compared to gastritis, with 80% and 20%,respectively.2.The results of real time PCR demonstrate: the IL-11 m RNA in EGC was significantly higher than CSG and CAG.3.The results of western demonstrate: the expression of IL-11?STAT3?p-STAT3 protein in EGC were significantly higher than CSG and CAG,the expression of IL-11 and STAT3 in CAG were significantly higher than CSG?4.IL-11 expression was not evidently correlated with features of sex and age.Conclusion:IL-11 are overexpressed in early gastric cancer tissues, suggesting that it might be used as a new biomarker to predict the pathogenesis of the disease.
