Studies On The Use By Miao And Chemical Constituents Of Clerodendron Cyrtophyllum In Qiandongnan

The Miao is one of the oldest etnic minorities in China.Most of them are located in the Yunnan and Guizhou plateau.In its long history of development,Miao people have created many excellent traditional culture.Medicine culture is one of them.They cultivated the special knowledge of using environmental plants for disease treatment in the long survival experience.With the development of modern society and the impact from foreign culture,the traditional life style and living environment of the Miao people have changed,which has a great influence on the culture themselves including the traditional medicine culture.The knowledge of traditional medicine were mainly followed down by oral teaching,lack of literary records leading to the eventually easy loss.Therefore,the survey of medicinal plant and collection of their knowledge is very important and urgent.In modern society,investigating the medical plant with combination of phytochemical and pharmacological methods effectively contribute to the development and use of traditional medicine culture.The ethnobotanical investigations were conducted on Liping,Rongjiang and Danzhai County,Guizhou Province by the means of literature studies,field surveys,key informant interviews,semi-structured interviews,participatory rural appraisal(PRA).Then,the chemical constituents of Clerodendrum cyrtophyllum were investigated and bioactivity of the compounds was researched.GC-MS was used to analyze the volatile components in extract of Clerodendron cyrtophyllum.Manifold chromatographic methods(silica gel column chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography,and HPLC)were used to investigate the chemical constituents,and the chemical structures were determined by spectra methods(IR,UV,MS,NMR).The compounds were evaluated for antiproliferative activity against five human tumor cell lines.1.The survey were conducted on eight Miao villages,three Dong villages,two Shui villages and 25 key informants were interviewed 2(14 ethnomedical practitioners).As a result,the distribution,cognition and application of Clerodendrum cyrtophyllum in the local area were understood.Comparing with the document,we made a summary of name and custom of the Miao herbal medicines.2.The chemical constituents of the petroleum ether and methylene chloride extract of Clerodendron cyrtophyllum.collected were investigated by GC-MS.28 and 12 compounds were identified from petroleum ether and methylene chloride fraction,respectively.20 compounds were isolated from the petroleum ether extract of Clerodendron cyrtophyllum,and 5 compounds were determined.3.The bioactivity of compounds against A549,KB,KB-VIN,MCF and MDA-MB-231 were evaluated.None of them showed anti-tumor cell lines activity.The knowledge using plant Clerodendron crytophyllum for disease treatment,its distribution,the chemical constituents and pharmacological activity were investigated in this study.It's very helpful to understand the scientific nature of folk medicine plant Clerodendron crytophyllum.The research provided the theoretical basis for further development and utilization of medicinal plant Clerodendron crytophyllum.
