Objective By observing change of the pH of peri-implant crevicular fluid in the patients for cement retained implant restorations in different periods after the crowns were bonded, research the relationship between the change of pH of peri-implant crevicular fluid after using different cements and the clinical symptoms around the implant,to provide an objective index for further clinical diagnosis of peri-implantitis and to provide certain theoretical basis for improving or rebuilding healthy micro ecological environment around the implants. Methods About 15 patients for cement retained implant restorations with a total of 45 dental implants were chosen for study. The implants were randomly divided into 3 groups, treatment group C for the resin-reinforced glass ionomer, treatment group A for the selfadhesive resin cement, and treatment group B for the polycarboxylic cement, with 15 implants in each group.Another 15 patients were chosen to observe 1 healthy tooth and periodonatal tissue from each of them as blank group. The pH of peri-implant crevicular fluid, meliorate plaque index, modification sulcus bleeding index and probing depth were measured respectively before the crowns were bonded, after 6 months and 12 months. The measured results during different periods were compared. Results 1The pH of gingival crevicular fluid: There was no significant difference in the treatment group C before the crowns were bonded, after 6 months and after 12 months. In treatment group A and B there was no significant difference before the crowns were bonded and after 6 months, while there was significant difference between the 6 months and 12 months after the crowns were bonded. In blank group there was no significant difference during these periods. The pH of gingival crevicular fluid showed statistical difference significantly during the treatment group C and treatment group A and B 12 months after the crowns were bonded, and also the same between treatment group A and B and blank group, but there was no between the treatment group C and blank group.2Meliorate plaque index: there was no significant difference between the treatment group C and blank group 12 months after the crowns were bonded, but there was between treatment group A and B and blank group.3Modification sulcus bleeding index: there was no significant difference between the treatment group C and blank group 12 months after the crowns were bonded, but there was between treatment group A and B and blank group.4Probing depth: there was no significant difference among the 4 groups 12 months after the crowns were bonded.5There was a positive correlativity between meliorate plaque index, modification sulcus bleeding index and pH of gingival crevicular fluid. Conclusions 1Detection of the pH of peri-implant crevicular fluid can reflect the dynamic change of inflammatory reaction in the micro ecological environment around the implants in different periods. It can be used as an indicator for observation and diagnosis of peri-implantitis.2There was a positive correlativity between meliorate plaque index, modification sulcus bleeding index and pH of gingival crevicular fluid.3There is no significant difference between the pH of peri-implant crevicular fluid of the healthy implants and the pH of gingival crevicular fluid of the healthy natural tooth, and no obvious change along with the change of time.4Resin-reinforced glass ionomer has less effect on the pH of peri-implant crevicular fluid.
