Objective:To evaluate the postoperative outcomes, related factors and cost/effectiveness between Patients with low socioeconomic status(LSES)who receive government subsidies for free cataract surgery and the normal ones at the same period.Methods:Retrospectively,205 eyes of 205 LSES patients and 226 eyes of 226 normal patients were reviewed such as basic information, uncorrected visual acuity(UCVA)of both preoperation and postoperation, cataract classification, intraoperative and postoperative complications, surgery cost.Multiple linear regression analysis were used to assess the factors affecting the postoperative visual acuity. Results:It was significantly improved of the postoperative UCVA compPared to the preoperative in both groups(P<0.001).The intraoperative complications and postoperative complications were apeared in 2 eyes and 40 eyes of the LSES group, respectively, and it was none eye and 11 eyes in the normal group.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that cataract classification, other ocular diseases and nuclear hardness were risk factors of the postoperative UCVA.It was lower in the LSES patients of the cost/effectiveness of cataract surgey compared to the normal group. Conclusion:UCVA was significantly improved in both group. The complications rate was higher in the LSES group but the cost was lower. |
