Objective:To investigate the expression of Merlin protein in normal cervical tissues and cervical squamous cell carcinoma of Qinghai, and to compare the positive expression of Merlin protein in cervical squamous cell carcinoma of Han,Tibetan and Hui ethnic groups in Qinghai province, and to explore whether there are ethnic differences. To further explore the relationship between the expression of Merlin protein and the clinicopathological features age,FIGO stage, lymph node metastasis and cell differentiation in cervical squamous cell carcinoma of different ethnic groups. Methods:Collected from July 2014 to July 2016 due to cervical squamous cell carcinoma and accepted cervical cancer radical resection in Qinghai Hospital,in all 108 cases of cervical squamous cell carcinoma specimens for the study group(SCC),including 40 cases of Han nationality,38 cases of Tibetan and 30 cases of Hui nationality.40 cases of the Han,37 cases of Tibetan and 30 cases of Hui were collected from 107 patients with normal uterine leiomyoma who were hospitalized for the same age.To use immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of Merlin protein in the two groups.SPSS 20.0 software was used to analyze the data. And to count the data depend on the chisquare test and Fisher exact test.Results:1.The positive expression rate of Merlin protein was 89.7%(96/107)in NCE group, which was significantly higher than that(17.6%(19/108))in SCC group(P <0.05).In NCE group, the positive expression rates of Merlin protein in 40 cases of Han,37 cases of Tibetan and 30 cases of Hui respective were 90.0%(36/40),91.9%(34/37)and 86.7%(26/30);In SCC group, the positive expression rates of Merlin protein in 40 cases of Han,38 cases of Tibetan and 30 cases of Hui respective were 17.5%(7/40),18.4%(7/38)and 16.7%(5/30),and there were significant difference(P<0.05)in the expression of Merlin protein between SCC and NCE groups in different ethnic.2.In the SCC group, the expression of Merlin protein between Han,Tibetan and Hui nationalities have no ethnic differences(P>0.05),which was the same to SCCgroup in the NCE group(P>0.05).3.In the SCC group of Han,to compare the positive expression rate of Merlin protein in different age,FIGO stage, lymph node metastasis and cells differentiation degree, and the positive expression rate of Merlin protein between different clinicopathological features has no significant difference(P> 0.05).Its the same to Tibetan and Hui nationalities. Conclusion: 1.The expression of Merlin protein in cervical squamous cell carcinoma of female was significantly lower than that in normal cervical tissue, the expression of Merlin protein was decreased might be involved in the occurrence of cervical cancer, which could be used as an auxiliary index in the diagnosis of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.2.There was no racial difference in the expression of Merlin protein in the tissues of normal cervical and cervical squamous cell carcinoma of Han,Tibetan and Hui ethnic groups, suggesting that the difference of the incident rate of cervical squamous cell carcinoma may not be affected by the expression of Merlin protein.3.The expression of Merlin protein in cervical squamous cell carcinoma of Han,Tibetan and Hui ethnic groups were not correlated with age,FIGO staging, lymph node metastasis and cell differentiation(P> 0.05),suggesting that Merlin protein was decreased even lossed in cervical squamous cell carcinoma may be only the occurrence of early events, not involved in the invasion, metastasis and other processes of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
