Application Status And Prospects Of Medical Adhesives In Thoracic Surgery

Medical adhesives are used in many different surgery departments,and many thoracic surgeons have used different kinds of medical adhesives,this review aims to summarize the application status of medical adhesives,and to discuss its prospects.The studies and reports on medical adhesives related to thoracic surgery were searched,and the results displayed by these studies and reports were evaluated in this review.All the literatures were obtained from Pub Med and CNKI database,the search period was from 1945 to 2016.In the research of medical adhesives,the main observation indexes in animal experiments were focused on histological characteristics and mechanical testing.The clinical research mainly discussed the outcome measures of patients who were treated by medical adhesives in their surgical procedures and other clinical treatments.In addition,some case reports showed some new way in applications,most of the results were positive,but there were also some skeptical views on it.Although the evidence in some of these studies was not irrefutable,the positive results were still dominant.Along with the development of itself and the expanding clinical needs,medical adhesives may become a more and more important tool in the clinical practice for thoracic surgeon.
