| In recent years, the incidence of cervical spondylosis gradually rose.In all types of cervical spondylosis, cervical spondylotic myelopathy is most harmful to people.Owing to the degeneration of cervical intervertebral disc, cervical spinal cord is constricted, which results in the damage of the nerve function. It seriously influences quality of life for the patients. At present, the primary treatment for cervical spondylotic myelopathy is operation. There have a total of four kinds of operation, including anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, anterior cervical corpectomy and fusion, posterior cervical laminoplasty and anterior-posterior approach surgery. For the short-segment cervical spondylotic myelopathy, most orthopedic surgeons adopt anterior decompression and fusion surgery. The selection of optimal surgical treatment for cervical spondylotic myelopathy, especially for multilevel cervical spondylotic myelopathy, remains controversial. Each surgery has its own advantages and disadvantages.Posterior cervical laminoplasty is an effective and commonly used surgical procedure decompressing multilevel spinal cord compression. Most scholars advised that, the lordosis of the cervical spine is maintained to allow the posterior migration of the spinal cord after laminoplasty. However,we observed a great deal of patients who developed postoperative cervical kyphosis and affected the quality of postoperative life seriously. At present, there is not a final conclusion about the mechanism of cervical kyphosis after laminoplasty. This paper summarizes the research progress of the relative factors and precautions of postoperative cervical kyphosis by consulting relevant literatures, which could direct clinical work better and improve the operative efficacy.Based on relevant literature, the hazard factors of cervical kyphosis following posterior cervical laminoplasty were elderly patients, abnormal cervical curvature,ill-suited surgical treatment, cervical instability after operation, posterior cervical muscle ligament complex and its skeletal attachment were destroyed, improper functional exercise.Consequently,we should avoid the above risk factors before, during and after the operation. It can obviously reduce the occurrence probability of cervical kyphosis after laminoplasty. |
