Objective: To compare the callus growth rate with limb fracture combined with brain injury and simple fracture, and try to discuss the relationship between neuron-specific enolase(NSE)and callus growth. Methods: 1 Clinical observation: Retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 50 patients who accepted surgical treatment of traumatic femoral fracture in the department of orthopedics, the Quanzhou First Hospital affiliated to Fujian Medical University from February 2012 to December 2016.According to the traumatic condition, the patients were divided into simple femoral fracture group(group A)and femoral fracture combined with brain injury group(group B),the growth rate of callus was observed at the patient was admitted to the hospital,1 days?1 month ?2 months and 3 months after the operation, the evaluation based on the fracture site's X-ray film of the two groups at the same time point, all patients were followed up for 3 months.2 Experimental analysis: 50 male SD rats were randomly divided into 3 groups:femoral fracture group(group a,n=20),fracture with brain injury group(group b,n=20),normal control(group c,n=10).Fracture and brain injury models were established. The 3 groups rats were sacrificed 21 days after operation, and then the NSE concentration in serum was detected and exam the callus density and the average thickness of the periosteum.3 Clinical observation combined with experimental data,to analyze the difference of callus growth rate between limb fracture combined with brain injury and simple fracture,to explore the possible mechanism and the data were collected to be analyzed statistically. Results: 1 A total of 50 patients met the inclusion criteria, total deaths and people lost to follow-up were 3 cases,so 43 patients were followed up for a period of 3 months.Among them, simple fracture group(group A),with a total of 21 cases, and the others were 22 cases of femoral fracture combined with brain injury(group B).By observing the fracture site's X-ray film,we have found the speed of fracture healing was accelerated in B group, the number of callus is relatively more, and the volume is relatively large too.2 In the experiment,50 SD rats were all alive and healthy, and data analysis hints: The serum levels of NSE(21.6±9.7)ng/ml,the callus density(1.53)and the average thickness of the periosteum(3.37)mm in the fracture with brain injury group significantly increased as compared with that corresponding to(9.2±2.5)ng/ml,(1),(1.47)mm in femoral fracture group and normal control group at the 21 days after operation(P<0.05).Conclusions: Callus growth rate of fracture site had an enhanced response after traumatic brain injury,we could also find that the serum levels of NSE in the patients of brain injury significantly increased,.so NSE may play a role in enhanced osteogenesis after brain injury.
