Analysis Of 917 Dead Cases In Intensive Care Unit

Objective To analysis clinical features of dead children in pediatric intensive care unit(PICU)of Children?s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from 2005 to 2014.Methods To collect cases of 917 dead children in PICU from 2005 to 2014 in Children's Hospital of Chongqing Medical University,then analysis age,hospital stays,death time,department and so on,and conduct death analysis.Results There were 917 cases of death in PICU from 2005 to 2014 in our hospital.According to systematic classification of disease,the top 10 death causes were: congenital abnormality,infectious disease,respiratory disease,injury and poisoning,digestion disease,tumor,symptoms,signs and abnormal clinical and laboratory findings not elsewhere classified,circulatory disease,nervous disease,blood disease.Infectious diseases? constituent ratio is on a declining curve,Non-infectious diseases? constituent ratio is on the rise(?2=26.29,P(27)0.001).Whereas,septicopyemia and hand-foot-and-mouth disease is increasing.Conclusion Congenital abnormality is the first cause of death in PICU of our hospital.The key to cut down child mortality is to reduce newborn with congenital abnormality.Cause of death changed over time in PICU.
