Objective: The changes of swallowing function after 3 months and 1years after operation were detected and evaluated. The clinical application of submental island flap in reconstruction of tongue defect after tongue cancer operation was studied. Methods:The submental island flap for tongue reconstruction were collected from December 2014 to December 2015 in the fourth hospital of Hebei Medical University,Department of Stomatology 14 cases of tongue cancer hospitalized after radical operation, all patients underwent radical resection of tongue cancer immediately after using submental island flap transfer for repair of tongue defects. The swallowing function was scored 3 months and 1 years after operation, and the swallowing function was evaluated by the GUSS swallowing function evaluation table.SPSS21.0 software was used to carry out the t test on 3 months and 1 year after the swallowing function index,P<0.05 was statistically significant.Results:14 cases of submental island flap were used to repair the tongue defect. After the operation,0 flaps were broken, and the flap survival rate was 100%.The average score of swallowing function was 14.31±0.57 after 3 months, and GUSS showed some dysphagia. The average score of swallowing function was 18.08 ± 0.52 after 1 years, and GUSS showed slight dysphagia. The paired t test showed a statistically significant difference between 3 months after the operation and 1 years after the operation(t=4.864,P<0.001).Conclusions:Application of submental island flap reconstruction of tongue defect can recover tongue cancer patients after swallowing function, meet the clinicalneeds of tongue reconstruction in a certain extent, will further expand its application value.
