Study objectives:To study the clinical characteristics of insomnia in mild and moderate ischemic stroke patients and provide evidence for clinical application. Methods:We enrolled 40 acute cerebral infarction patients and 30 that do not have stroke, who matched with infarction patients in the gender and age.We monitored the sleep of the two groups. We observed the total record time(TRT)?sleep efficiency(SE)?sleep latency(SL)?wake after sleep onset(WASO)and sleep architecture, then compared the parameter of two groups. We also gave the examination of Hamilton Depression Scale of the two groups and then compared them.T test?Chi-square and rank test were performed by SPSS 21.0.Results:1 we found that in the patients group the total sleep time were reduced[(263.55±15.11)min vs.(349.42±12.57)min],sleep latency were longer[(54.36 ± 3.00)min vs.(27.80 ± 7.81)min],more awake time after sleep[(180.37 ± 14.90)min vs.(132.08 ± 13.62)min],sleep structure were disrupted,N1(the first stage of non-rapid eye movement sleep)sleep were significantly extended[(24.00±3.40)min vs.(15.28±2.30)min],N2 sleep were shorter[(55.04 ± 3.59)min vs.(66.76 ± 2.97)min].All had statistical significance(P<0.05).However,no significance in sleep time in the two groups of the N3 and REM(rapid eye movement sleep)(P>0.05).2 We found that in the patients group the frequency of insomnia is92.7%,much higer than the control group.3 In the patients group,65% of them had difficulty in falling sleep,50% of them have a longer awake time after sleep and 87.5% of the petients total sleep time were cut down.4 In the patients group, there were 17 women and 19 men who sufferedinsomnia. There was statistically difference between sexes just in the REM phase(P<0.05).5 There were no statistically differences in the total sleep time, sleep efficiency, wake after sleep onset, sleep latency and sleep structure among under50 years old,50-59 years old,60-69 years old and over 70 years old(P<0.05).6 In the patients group, the Hamilton Depression Scale were higher than the control group[(7±3)? vs.(5.5±3.25)?,(P<0.05)].Conclusions:1 At the acute stage of mild and moderate ischemic stroke, the frequncy of insomnia is very high.2 Mainly presented as poor sleep structure.3 Patients with insomnia often comorbid depression.
