Objectives The effects of sucrose, citric acid and sodium bicarbonate and three different adhesives on the bonding strength of zirconia ceramics were studied to provide experimental basis for the clinical bonding of zirconia prostheses. Methods The zirconium oxide is prepared and made into 60 pieces in total with each piece the size of 3.00mm×3.00mm×3.00 mm whose surfaces are grinded and polished in turn;60 teeth in vitro that were pulled within a month are selected and their buccal side is prepared into the plane with the size of not less than 3.00mm×3.00 mm and polished. The zirconia block and the cheek side of the preparation of the teeth after the application of different adhesives were bonded, and soaked with different solutions to observe the effect on the adhesive strength of the cement. The specimens were randomly divided into three groups according to the different cementing agents,A group;B group and C group. Each group was divided into four groups(n=5)according to the different solution of soaking,Artificial saliva group was soaked with artificial saliva;Sucrose group was soaked with 10% sucrose;Citric acid group was soaked with 0.2% citric acid;sodium bicarbonate group was soaked with 0.03% sodium bicarbonate group. The surface of zirconium oxide and teeth in vitro after preparation in each group is tested for the surface roughness, using roughness tester. After the roughness in each group is the same in statistics, the specimens were bonded with PULPDENT Embrace,3M ESPE RelyxTM Veneer and RelyxTM Luting adhesives respectively and then the specimens in Groups Sucrose,Citric acid and sodium bicarbonate were soaked in 10% sugar,0.2% citric acid and 0.03% sodium bicarbonate solution,5 minutes a time,2 times a day and for the rest of the time they were soaked in the artificial saliva as well as Group Artificial saliva group. After three months, the shear bonding strength was measured, fracture pattern was observed under stereoscopic microscope and fracture surface was observed under scanning electron microscopy and collect quantitative data for a statistical analysis using SPSS17.0 software. Results 1 The effect of bonding strength in the adhesives has a difference that was statistically significant(P<0.05),comparison between any two means to three groups, the bonding strength in the A group and B group is higher than that in C group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);2 The effect of bonding strength in the solution has a difference that was statistically significant(P<0.05),comparison between any two means to four groups, the bonding strength in Groups sucrosse, citric acid and sodium bicarbonate is lower than that in Group artificial saliva and the difference is statistically significant(P<0.05);3 The fracture patterns are interface damage in each group;4 According to the results through scanning electron microscopy,in groups A and B,soaked in sucrose, citric acid and sodium bicarbonate have witnessed Shrinkage crack, the group C,Soaked in sucrose, citric acid and sodium bicarbonate have witnessed turtle crack that depth, width and length are increased. Conclusions 1 The type of cement and sucrose, citric acid, sodium bicarbonate soaking solution will have an effect on the bonding strength of zirconia ceramics;2 The bonding adhesive of dual curing resin dope PULPDENT Embrace and light curing resin adhesive 3M ESPE RelyxTM Veneer of zirconia is well than resin reinforced glass ion bonding agent RelyxTM Luting;3 Sucrose, citric acid and sodium bicarbonate solution can reduce the bonding strength of zirconia ceramics.
