Clinical Observation Of Bushen Quzhuo Tongluo Decoction In The Treatment Of Diabetic Osteoporosis

Objectives To study the therapeutic effect of Bushen Quzhuo Tongluo Decoction for type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)combined with osteoporosis(syndrome of kidney essence deficiency and blockade of phlegm-turbidity).Methods A total of 60 cases admitted to Endocrinology Department II of Tangshan Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine between July 2015 and December 2016,in accordance with the random number table,were divided into two groups: treatment group and control group.Both groups were given conventional hypoglycemic treatment.Additionally,the treatment group was given Caltrate Calcium Carbonate D3 Tablets,while the treatment group was given Bushen Quzhuo Tongluo Decoction(250ml per dose,2 doses per day,with one month as a treatment course,for three consecutive months).The improvement of clinical symptoms,mean onset time of ostealgia and remission time after taking medicine and change of bone density in the two groups were observed.Furthermore,changes in FBG,2h PBG,Hb A1 c and liver and renal functions before and after taking medicine as well as any adverse reaction during treatment were recorded.The data collected were analyzed by SPSS19.0 statistics software.Results A total of 60 cases were included into the study.2 cases did not finish the treatment.58 cases finished the treatment,including 30 cases in the control group and 28 cases in treatment group.1.The two groups had no differences in prior treatment,gender,age and course of disease(P>0.05).2 Comparison of TCM symptom score and curative effect: The TCM syndrome score of both groups were decreased after treatment,and that of the treatment group was significantly lower than that of the control group(5.28±2.16 vs 7.28±2.26,P<0.05).The therapeutic effect in the treatment group was obviously improved than that in control group(89.3% vs 66.7%,P<0.05).3 Comparison of mean bone pain onset time and remission duration: The mean bone pain onset time and response durations of the treatment group and the control group were a statistically significance difference(P<0.05),and the mean bone pain onset time and response duration of the treatment group was obvious shortened compared with the control group,4 Comparison of bone mineral density(BMD): After therapy,the improvement of BMD in the two groups were effectively improved(P<0.05),and the improvement of BMD in the treatment group was better than the control group,showing a statistically significance difference(P<0.05).5.Comparison of blood glucose and Hb A1c: The blood glucose and Hb A1 c of both groups were obviously lower after treatment(P<0.05),and the decreases of the two levels in the treatment group were more obvious than the control group(P<0.05).The curative effect of the treatment group was much better.6.Comparison of liver and kidney functions: There were no significantly different in liver and kidney functions between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions Bushen Quzhuo Tongluo decoction has an obvious curative effect for T2 DM combined with osteoporosis(syndrome of kidney essence deficiency and blockade of phlegm-turbidity).It can relieve pain in back and loin and other TCM clinical symptoms,improve bone mineral density and shorten bone pain onset time and remission duration.
