Object : To evaluate clinical correlation between high mobility group box-1(HMGB1)and neonatal respiratory distress syndrome(NRDS).Methods:Forty-five patients with NRDS were selected from our hospital NICU as test group,According to the prognosis is divided into survival group of 27 cases,18 cases of death group.Forty-five normal neonates were selected as the control group.Plasma samples and clinical data were collected from the neonates in the two groups within 12-24 hours after birth.ELISA was applied to measure plasma levels of HMGB1.Results: 1.The test group had significantly higher plasma levels of HMGB1(P<0.05).The death group had significantly higher plasma levels of HMGB1(P<0.05).2.By using ROC curve analysis value of plasma levels of HMGB1 on the prediction of NRDS and mortality risk prediction of NRDS.Prediction of NRDS area under the ROC curve is0.871(95%CI:0.798-0.943,P<0.05),HMGB1 625.2778pg/ml into the best boundary value to predict NRDS.Mortality risk prediction of NRDS area under the ROC curve is0.912(95%CI : 0.826-0.997,P<0.05),HMGB1786.7124pg/ml into the best boundary value to predict NRDS death. Conclusion: plasma levels of HMGB1 increase significantly when neonates with NRDS.Plasma levels of HMGB1 increase significantly when neonates died from NRDS.Plasma levels of HMGB1 can be used to predict NRDS and mortality risk.Plasma levels of HMGB1 can be used as indicators for diagnosing disease, evaluating disease condition and judging prognosis.
