Objective: The aim of this study was to build digital dental model with CBCT,fabricate virtual model via 3D printing, and determine the accuracy of 3D printing dental model by comparing with traditional dental cast. Methods: Cone beam computed tomographies(CBCT)of orthodontic patients were obtained to build digital dental model by using Mimics 10.01 software and Geomagic studio software. The 3D virtual models were fabricated via fused deposition modeling technique(FDM)and were compared with the traditional cast models by using the vernier caliper. The measurements included the width of each tooth, the length and width of the maxillary and mandibulary arch, and the length of posterior dental crest. Results: 3D printing models own high accuracy compared with traditional cast models. The paired t test of all the data showed that no statistically significant difference was observed between the two groups(P>0.05).Conclusion: 1)Dental digital models built with CBCT realize the digital storage of patients' dental condition.Virtual dental model fabricated via 3D printing avoid traditional impression and simplify the clinical examination process.2)The 3D printing dental models manufactured via FDM have a high degree of accuracy and fit for the clinical practice. |
