Objective: To investigate the clinical and imaging features of renal benign tumors and to improve their diagnosis and treatment. Methods: The clinical data of 18 patients from 2013 to 2016 at our hospital were retrospectively analyzed. The clinical, imaging, pathological features of renal benign tumors were summarized and related literatures were reviewed. Results: There were 11 females and 7 males, with an average age of 45±13(range from 19 to73 years old)years old.7 tumors located in left kidney, the other located in right kidney. All tumors were unilateral and single.Among the 18 patients,13 cases were detected incidentally,5had symptoms in which flank pain and hematuria was the main complaint.15 cases underwent ultrasonography and computed tomography(CT);3 cases underwent ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI).All cases were underwent surgery in the final, including open radical nephrectomy(3 cases),open nephron-sparing surgery(2 cases),laparoscopic radical nephrectomy(2 cases),and laparoscopic nephron-sparing surgery(11 cases). The pathological results included angiomyelolipoma(8 cases),oncocytoma(5 cases),benign cystic nephroma(4cases),liomyoma(1 case). Conclusion: Benign renal tumors are not common than malignant tumors, their clinical features are not specific, imaging techniques such as ultrasonography and CT are the main preoperative diagnostic procedures.Theoretically,Nephron-sparing surgery(NSS)is the ideal treatment for benign renal tumors.NSS combins with intraoperative frozen section examination can reduce misdiagnosis and over-treatment.
