OBJECTIVE:To discuss the impact of gastric cancer patients with preoperative nutritional risk on clinical outcome and analyze the relevant factors which influence postoperative complications.METHODS:A prospective study was performed in 140 patients with gastric cancer. The nutritional risk screening 2002(NRS2002)was applied to screen the nutritional risk. This study was used to explore the impact of preoperative nutritional risk on clinical outcome such as postoperative complications, hospital stay,ICU stay, hospital expenses,60 days readmission and mortality. This study adopted the method of univariate and multivariate analysis to explore relevant factors which influence postoperative complications.RESULTS:1.The incidence of preoperative nutritional risk in patients with gastric cancer is high, especially in the elderly over the age of 60 years.2.Patients with nutritional risk had more complications than those without nutritional risk,P <0.05;longer hospital stay,P <0.05;Comparing 'at risk' with 'no risk',though the former is higher than the latter in anastomotic fistula, hospitalization expenses,60 days readmission(not for chemotherapy)and mortality in 60 days, there is no statistical difference,P>0.05.3.Multivariate analysis showed that combined organ resection and preoperative nutritional risk were independent risk factors for postoperative complications,P <0.05.CONCLUSION:1.The incidence of nutritional risk in patients with gastric cancer is higher2.The clinical outcomes of those gastric cancer patients with preoperative nutritional risk are apparently worse than those without preoperative nutritional risk.3.Preoperative nutritional risk and combined organ resection are independent risk factors for postoperative complications.
