Objectives:The purpose of this study is to investigate the Chinese traditional medical regimen literacy and health condition of 2 different kinds of retired elderly people of university in Jinan area.The relevance between the Chinese traditional medical regimen literacy and health condition were analysised.The factors affecting the health status of retired elederly people were discussed.This study will provide the reference and scientific basis for improving the healthy literacy and healthy status of retired elderly people in universities.Methods:This study is a non-experimental study of the correlation study.Strtified sampling method was used to extract the study object from retired elderly people from 2 different kinds of colleges and universities.Traditional Chinese Medicine(Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)and non-Traditional Chinese Medicine(Qilu Teachers College,Shandong Institute of Physical Education)were studied.The "Chinese health care literacy questionnaire" and " SF-36 health scale" were employed as the research tools to investigate TCM health literacy and health status of the retired people.The difference between the 2 kinds of people of Chinese health care quality and health status were compared.The factors impacting Chinese health care quality on the health status of the retired the elderly were analysised.Results 1.The average score(percentage)of the Traditional Chinese medicine health care literacy basic concepts and knowledge,healthy lifestyle and behavior literacy,health care content literacy,health care quality of 2 different kinds of retired elderly people in Jinan area were 85.00,63.56,48.24 and 43.91 respectively.Among them,the kind of Traditional Chinese medicine were 95.59,72.40,64.84,60.39.The kind of non-Traditional Chinesemedicine were 76.63,56.58,35.12,30.90.2.There were significant differences in the health literacy of retired elderly people under different social demographic characteristics(P <0.05).The first affect factosr to the retired elederly people in Tranditional people were education level,family monthly income,number of chronic diseases and marital status,the second influencing factos were the purchase of commercial insurance and the relavance of the work to the health industy.The first influencing factos to the retired elederly people in non-Tranditional people were age,education and the relavance of the work to the health industy,the second affect factosr were family monthly income,number of chronic diseases and the purchase of commercial insurance,the last inflencing factors were technical title and the number of the family.3.The average score on the physiological function,physiological function,body pain,general health,energy,social function,mental health,emotional function(the item from SF-36 health scale)of retired elderly people in Jinan area were 72.95?54.91?62.51?59.24?69.52?80.82?70.10?61.72.The score of the retired elderly people from Traditonal Chinese Medicine were 78.16?67.77?67.01?63.16?78.75?89.16?79.91?72.40.The score of the retired elderly people from non-Traditonal Chinese Medicine were 68.83?44.7558.96? 56.14?62.22?74.23?62.35?53.29.There were significant differences in the health status of retired elderly people under different social demographic characteristics(P <0.05).The results show that men,engaged in health work,the purchase of commercial insurance,no chronic diseases,master's degree and above,more than 5,000 yuan monthly income,senior title,both husband and wife healthy retired elderly health status is generally better than other cases.4.The regression results show that Chinese health care literacy method of the retired people from traditional Chinese Medicine University,has the linear regression relationship with physiological function,physical function,emotional function,body pain,social function,general health,the regression coefficients are greater than zero(P< 0.05).Chinese health care literacy content of the retired people from non-Medicine University,has the linear regression relationship with physiological function,physical function,social function,body pain,vitality,mental health,the regression coefficients are greater than zero(P< 0.05).Conclutions: 1.Most retired elderly people of two kinds of colleges and universities in Jinan havehave basic health care concepts and knowledge,but their health care content literacy and health care methods are generally poor.2.The factors that affect the health care of Chinese medicine are engaged in health work,the purchase of commercial insurance,the number of chronic diseases,family income,age,title,marital status,the number of families.3.The factors that affect the health status of the retired elderly are engaged in health work,the purchase of commercial insurance,the number of chronic diseases,family income,age,title,marital status,family number,gender,and health care content and methods.The contents and methods of health care should be extended to the elderly with lower cultural level and lower income.4.As far as the retired people from traditional Chinese Medicine University was concerd,the Chinese health care literacy method was higher,the health condition(including physiological function,physical function,emotional function,body pain,social function,general health)was more better.As far as the retired people from non-Medicine University was concerd,the Chinese health care literacy content was higher,the health condition(including physiological function,physical function,social function,body pain,vitality,mental health)was more better.For the old people with medical background,we should focus on training TCM health care methods.For the old people who do not have medical background,we should focus on training the content of health care in Chinese Medicine.
