Background:To construct the 3D digital model of the root canal morphology of primary maxillary incisors using micro-computed tomography(Micro-CT,MCT),providing the references for designing the post. Methods : Primary maxillary central and lateral incisors(n = 10,respectively)were collected for study. The two-dimensional and three-dimensional analyses of the root canal system of primary maxillary incisors were conducted with Micro-CT.Results:The canal volume, surface area of primary maxillary central incisors was larger than that of the Primary maxillary lateral incisors, while the value of structure model index(SMI)was significantly smaller.Primary maxillary lateral incisors were significantly rounder than central incisors at root canal cervical and interface between cervical one-third and middle one-third cross-sectional levels.Diameters on labio-palatal dimension of central incisorsat four different levels were significantly smaller than the diameter on mesio-distal dimension, and the results reversed for lateral incisors. The taper of central incisors and lateral incisors was gradually larger from the apical one-third to the cervical one-third on labio-palatal dimension, but the result revesered on mesio-distal dimension of central incisors, and the tapers showed no significant differences on labio-palatal dimension at three segments for lateral incisors. Conclusions:This study provides three-dimensional analysis of the root canal system of primary maxillary incisors using Micro-CT.The data will be helpful for the development of the restorative post for primary maxillary incisors.
