Objectives: To explore the clinical features and the possible mechanism of fever in patients with pulmonary embolism by observe the laboratory examination indexes:procalcitonin,interleukin-6,hypersensitive c-reactive protein levels. Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the medical records of 305 consecutive patients, with angiographically proven PE admitted to respiratory department of internal medicine ward one between March 2015 and October 2016. The PE patients with fever as experimental group ( group A) with 59 cases, Randomly selected the PE patients without fever as control group (group B) with 59 cases,meanwhile,59 patients with community-acquired pneumonia were chosen as control group (group C). All patients measuring temperature immediately and taking peripheral venous blood for PCT,IL-6, hs -CRP detection. The levels of T、PCT、IL-6、hs-CRP were compared among the three groups of patients. And use the Simplfied Pulmonary Embolism Severity Idex score to predict the relations between temperature and PE risk. Results: 1.Among patients with PE,fever was present in 59 of 305 patients(19.3%),temperature range between 37.2℃ to 39.7℃, low thermal of these patients were 44.1%, 37.3% moderate fever patients and 18.6% in patients with high fever; Fever in PE low-risk,high-risk degree distribution, there was no statistical difference.2.The level of T、PCT、IL-6、hs-CRP in group A and group C were significantly higher than that in group B, the difference was statistically significant. The levels of temperature of group C was higher than group A (P<0.05), the difference was statistically significant,There was no significant difference in PCT, IL-6 and hs-CRP levels in A and C groups (P > 0.05).Conclusions: 1.19.3% of patients with PE will appear fever,low-grade and middle grade fever are common in PE, Fever has nothing to do with the danger of PE.2. The temperature level in Patients with pulmonary embolism was significantly lower than patients with CAP .The levels of PCT, interleukin 6, high sensitive C reactive protein were significantly increased in the PE patients with fever than that without fever, when compared with community-acquired pneumonia, there was no significant difference, the possible mechanism of fever in patients with pulmonary embolism may be inflammatory reaction.
