| Objective:Percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)is an ideal treatment on osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures(OVCFs),however,the optimal operative timing of which is still unclear.We retrospect and analyze the outcomes of lumbar osteoporotic vertebral body compression fractures suffered percutaneous kyphoplasty(PKP)treatments at different operation times after injuries in patients to find out the affects to the outcomes of PKP and the influences of the treatment for OVCFs in elderly patients.Method:At Peking Union Hospital,from September 12,2015 to December 1,2012,there are 53 patients who suffered from OVCFs at certain times,and they are admitted to be the objects of our research.All of them are over 65-year-old with obvious back pain,and only one vertebral body undertaken the operation of PKP treatment at different times after injured.23 patients who accepted PKP treatment within one week after injuries include were considered as A group,while 45 patients who undertake PKP surgery delayed more than 2 weeks were regarded as group B.Record and compare the VAS scores,Cobb angle,the anterior margin of vertebral body height,the volume of bone cement and the rate of bone cement leakage preoperatively and postoperatively.Result:All patients were successfully undertaken surgery.The age of group A(77.15±8.79)has no different with group B(73.05±10.05).The VAS score,Cobb angle and vertebral body height in both group has obviously improved.Compared two groups’ results,the improvement rates of VAS and the anterior edge height were higher than those in group B(P<0.05),while no obvious different on Cobb angle,the volume of bone cement and the rate of bone cement leakage.(P>0.05).Conclusion:PKP is an effective method of treatment for patients suffered OVCFs.And earlier surgical treatment after injuries can obviously alleviate patient s’pain and restore vertebral body shape better while the bone cement leakage rate is no different.So it is beneficial to undertake PKP surgery in the early stage after OVCFs. |
