The Reasons And Risk Factors For Unplanned Reoperation In Patients Undergoing Spinal Surgery

Objective:Analysis of the causes and risk factors of unplanned reoperation of spine patients by retrospective study of medical records.Methods:Through the medical system to collect 2011.06-2016.12 spinal surgery patients with 3048 cases of data,including 92 cases of unplanned reoperation.Record the age,sex,operative segment,surgical procedure,surgical site,disease diagnosis and history of diabetes mellitus.Find the cause of the patient's unplanned reoperation,analyze the risk factors for unplanned reoperation..Results:A total of 92 cases of spinal disease patients underwent unplanned surgery.Unexplained reoperation was due to incorrect fixation in 8 cases(8.69%),wound infection in 31 cases(33.69%),neurological impairment in 28 cases(30.43%),wound hematoma in 18 cases(19.56%),fracture reduction failure in 4 cases(4.35%),cerebrospinal fluid leakage in 3 cases(3.26%).Analysis of relevant factors can be seen,sex was not associated with unplanned reoperation(P> 0.05).There were significant differences between the two groups in age,operation segment,operation mode,operation site,admission diagnosis and history of diabetes mellitus(P <0.05).Description of age,surgical segment,surgical procedure,surgical site,admission diagnosis and history of diabetes mellitus associated with unplanned reoperation.Logistic regression analysis showed,age,surgical segment,and history of diabetes were independent risk factors for unplanned reoperation(P <0.05).Conculsion:Spinal disease patients underwent unplanned reoperation mainly due to nail errors,wound infection,neurological impairment,wound hematoma,fracture reduction failure and cerebrospinal fluid leakage.Patient's age,surgical segment,and history of diabetes mellitus are independent risk factors for unplanned reoperation.
