Objective: By investigating the expression of transforming growth factor-?(TGF-?)and platelet derived growth factor(PDGF)in the ectopic endometrium tissue and eutopic endometrium tissue,we tried to explore the possible existing relationship with the pathogenesis of endometriosis.Method: Immunohistochemical SP method was used to detect the expression of TGF-? and PDGF in the normal endometrium of 30 cases without endometriosis, and in the ectopic endometrium of 30 cases with endometriosis.Result: 1.TGF-? was detected in endometrial glandular epithelial cells and s tromal cells. In the ectopic endometrium group, there were 23 cases which showed positive expression or strong positive expression(++ ~+++),and 7 cases showe d negative expression or weakly positive expression(-~+).In the normal endome trium group, there were 12 cases which showed positive expression or strong posi tive expression(++ ~+++),and 18 cases showed negative expression or weakly positive expression(-~+).There were significant difference between each group(P<0.05).2.PDGF was detected mainly in endometrial stromal cells. In the ectopic endomet rium group, there were 19 cases which showed positive expression or strong posit ive expression(++ ~+++),and 11 cases showed negative expression or weakly p ositive expression(-~+).In the normal endometrium group, there were 9 cases wh ich showed positive expression or strong positive expression(++ ~+++),and 21 c ases showed negative expression or weakly positive expression(-~+).There were significant difference between each group(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.The expression of TGF-? in ectopic endometrium is significantly higher than that in normal endometrium.TGF-? may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.2.The expression of PDGF in ectopic endometrium is significantly higher than that in normal endometrium.PDGF may play an important role in the pathogenesis of endometriosis.3.To inhibit the expression of TGF-? and PDGF by using physicochemical or biological method may offer a new means for the treatment of EMs.
