Objectives The study is aimed to analyze the pattern of inflammatory response of LCH lesions, and to investigate the relationship between pathological features and clinical manifestations as well as prognosis. Methods Twenty-five patients of LCH with skin lesions were chosen to be enrolled into the research. The patterns of inflammatory response of skin lesions were analyzed. The expressions of ki-67 and CD163 in skin lesions were detected by immunohistochemistry methods.Furthermore, clinical data of the patients were collected, and follow-up of patients were carried out by telephone. The data were analyzed by SPSS 15.0 statistical software. Results 1.LCH lesions have two patterns of inflammatory response. One pattern presented as langerhans cells surrounded by extensive h4 istiocytes and lymphocytes infiltration, however, the other presented as sparse histiocytes and lymphocytes infiltration.2.In skin lesions of 25 cases, the average level of ki-67 intensity was16.99% ? 12.02%,and the average level of CD163 intensity positive was16.71%? 12.17%.The average levels of ki-67 and CD163 intensity in skin-limitedLCH were 14.13%?8.47% and 24.64%?13.91% respectively. The average levels of ki-67 and CD163 intensity in MS-LCH involving skin and multi-system were17.94%? 13.02% and 14.06%? 10.61% respectively.Comparison of SS-LCH with MS-LCH in ki-67 intensity showed no statistical significant(P>0.05),but there was significant difference in CD163 intensity between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions 1.The level of proliferation index of langerhans cells is low in skin lesions of LCH,and the level of proliferation index is not associated with internal organs involvement.2.The CD163 intensity of inflammatory cells may be related to the progression of LCH.
