Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with hormone-dependent breast cancer complicated with type 2 diabetes mellitus and the effect of metformin on the prognosis of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods A total of 34 women with hormone-dependent breast cancer with type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled in the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University from October 2012 to March 2017,and 34 patients with hormone-dependent breast cancer with type 2 diabetes mellitus Female patients were hospitalized at the same time, and the age difference of± 5 years old non-combined type 2 diabetes mellitus simple hormone-dependent breast cancer in female patients were randomly selected by excel random number. In addition, according to the use of metformin combined with type 2 diabetes hormone-dependent breast cancer patients were divided into metformin treatment group and non-metformin treatment group. To compare the differences in menopausal status, body mass index, clinical characteristics and prognosis of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus hormone-dependent breast cancer group and simple hormone-dependent breast cancer group, metformin treatment group and non-metformin treatment group.SPSS17.0 version of the data used for statistical analysis. The t-test was used for the continuous variables. The results were expressed as mean±standard deviation. The counting data were analyzed by chi-square test or Fisher direct probability method. The unidirectional ordered grade data were analyzed by rank sum test.Kaplan-Meier method was used to depict OS curve and PFS curve.Log-rank method was used to test whether there were differences between OS and PFS in the two groups. Results 1.The patients in T2DMHDBC group were older with a mean age 61.26 ± 9.15,the percentage of postmenopausal patients was 85.29%,but the difference was not statistically significant(P>0.05).2.The mean body mass index of T2DMHDBC group and SHDBC group were 24.56 ± 3.30 and 24.16 ±3.82,respectively.There was no significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05).3.T2DMHDBC group and SHDBC group tumor T stage to T2 based, the two groups were statistically differences(P<0.05).The number of T3-T4 cases in T2DMHDBC group was significantly higher than that in SHDBC group.4.T2DMHDBC group clinical stage later, the clinical stage to stage ?-based,SHDBC group to phase II,the difference between the two groups was statistically significant(P=0.010).5.There was no significant difference in the distant metastasis, survival status, survival status,OS and PFS between the two groups of patients with T2DMHDBC group and SHDBC group. However, according to the PFS curve of the two groups of patients, the SHDBC group had a longer PFS trend.6.Metformin treatment group type 2 diabetes longer than non-metformin treatment group, the difference was statistically significant(P=0.041).There were no deaths and deaths in the metformin group. There were 2 cases of death in the non-metformin group(1 case had distant metastasis)and 5 cases of distant metastasis. There was no significant difference between the two groups in distant metastasis and survival status. The progression-free survival rate of the metformin group was significantly higher than that of the non-metformin group(P=0.033).Conclusion 1.Combined with type 2 diabetes hormone-dependent breast cancer patients older age, higher proportion of menopause, body mass index.2.Combined with type 2 diabetes hormone-dependent breast cancer in patients with tumor T stage, clinical stage later.3.Metformin improved the prognosis of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus hormone-dependent breast cancer.
