Objective:1.To observe the clinical effect of self-blood injection acupuncture on AR;2.To observe the effect of self-blood injection acupuncture on the levels of serum interferon-Y(IFN-?)and interleukin-4(IL-4)in AR patients, and to explore the mechanism of this therapy, thus providing a possible scientific basis for the treatment of AR by self-blood injection acupuncture.Methods:70 cases who met the inclusion criteria were randomly into a self-blood injection acupuncture group and a western medication group(35 cases in each group).Due to the patients' own reasons,6 cases were lost, including 4 cases of self-blood injection acupuncture group and 2 cases of western medication group. For the rest patients in self-blood injection acupuncture group, the acupoint injection therapy with self-blood was applied to the bilateral Feishu(BL 13)and Zusanli(ST 36)(To choose one acupiont each time, two groups are used alternately).Patients were treated once every 3 days,10 times for a course of treatment, and we evaluated the clinical efficacy on day 31.In the western medication group, patients were treated with oral desloratadine tablets continuously for 2 weeks, and we evaluated the clinical efficacy on day 15.Results:1.After the treatment, the self-blood injection acupuncture group have 15 cases of markedly effect,13 cases of effective, and 3 cases of ineffective, the total effective rate was 90.3%.The western medication group have 9 cases of markedly effect,19 cases of effective, and 5 cases of ineffective, the total effective rate was 84.8%.There was no significant difference in total effective rate between the two groups(P<0.05).2.The total score of Symptoms and signs before treatment in self-blood injection acupuncture group was 8.68±2.86,and was reduced to 3.35± 1.89 after treatment. The total score of Symptoms and signs before treatment in western medication group was 8.76 ± 2.44,and was reduced to 4.79 ± 1.20 after treatment The total score of symptoms and signs in the two groups was significantly lower than that before treatment(P<0.05),suggesting that both treatments can significantly relieve the clinical symptoms of AR patients. There was no significant difference in the total score of symptoms and signs between the two groups before treatment, but the score of the self-blood injection acupuncture group was lower than that of the western medicine group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05),which suggesting that the effect of self-blood injection acupuncture was better than western medicine on relieving the symptoms and signs of AR patients.3.The serum IFN-? content of patients before treatment in self-blood injection acupuncture group was 27.69±7.06ng/mL,and was increased to 38.17±9.55ng/mL after treatment. The serum IFN-? content of patients before treatment in western medication group was 29.23 ± 6.66ng/mL,and was increased to 35.90± 6.65ng/mL after treatment. The levels of serum IFN-Y in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.05),but there were no significant difference in the serum IFN-Y content between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05).It was suggested that both two treatments can increase the serum IFN-? content of AR patients, and there was no significant difference between the two treatments in increasing the levels of serum IFN-?.4.The serum IL-4 content of patients before treatment in self-blood injection acupuncture group was 86.66±14.23ng/mL,and was reduced to 66.14±10.97ng/mL after treatment. The serum IL-4 content of patients before treatment in western medication group was 84.13±14.73ng/mL,and was reduced to 70.61±11.54ng/mL after treatment. The levels of serum IL-4 in the two groups were significantly lower than those before treatment(P<0.05),but there were no significant difference in the serum IL-4 content between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05).It was suggested that both two treatments can reduce the serum EL-4 'content of AR patients, and there was no significant difference between the two treatments in reducing serum IL-4 content.5.The serum Th1/Th2 of patients before treatment in self-blood injection acupuncture group was 0.334±0.021,and was increased to 0.600 ± 0.037 after treatment. The serum Th1/Th2 of patients before treatment in western medication group was 0.361 ± 0.019,and was increased to 0.524 ± 0.024 after treatment. The levels of Thl/Th2 in the two groups were significantly higher than those before treatment(P<0.05),but there were no significant difference between the two groups before and after treatment(P>0.05).It was suggested that both two treatments can upregulate the serum Th1/Th2 of AR patients, and there was no significant difference between the two treatments in upregulating serum Th1/Th2.Conclusion:Self-blood injection acupuncture can effectively relieve the clinical symptoms and signs of AR patients. And its mechanism may be related to upregu_lating serum IFN-? content and down-regulating serum IL-4 content, thus correcting the imbalance of Th1/Th2.
