Objective:To evaluate the correlation between the serum testosterone levels?fasting insulin levels and pathological characteristics of prostate cancer.Preliminarily revealthat low testosterone may promote the maliginante progression of prostate cancer through body metabolism imbalanceMethods:A total of 63 patients from ZhongDa hospital were reviewed.According to the result of pathologic examination, research objects can be divided into the benign prostate hyperplasiagroup(n = 25)and prostate cancer group(n = 38 cases).while according to Gleason score, prostate cancer patients can be calssfied into two groups(the low-grade prostate cancer group,n = 20 and the high-grade prostate cancergroup,n = 18 cases). All patients with pre-therapy serum testosterone, fasting insulin, fasting blood glucose,PSA,prostate volume were analyzed;ResultsofGleason score and pathological staging index in postoperative biopsy and surgical specimens were also analyzed;Expression of insulin-like growth factor I receptor(IGF-I R)in prostate tissueweredetected by immuno-histochemistry;Experimental data was processed by SPSS 19.0.Results:Serum testosterone levels of prostate cancer group were lower than benign prostate hyperplasia group(P<0.05),there are significant differences(P<0.05)between the low-grade prostate cancer group and the high-grade prostate cancer groupwhich with low serum testosterone levels;Serum testosterone inlocally limited prostate cancer group was higher than the locally advanced prostate cancer(P<0.05).Fasting insulin levelsof the high-grade prostate cancer group was notablely higher than low-grade prostate cancer group(One-way ANOVA P<0.05);Testosterone was significantly negative correlationted withfasting insulinlevers(r =-0.312,P<0.05).Expression positive rateof IGF-I R in prostate tissue was higherin Prostate cancer groups than that of prostatic hyperplasia group(P<0.05);However,there are no significant correlation between expression positive rateof IGF-I R with different pathological grades nor different clinical pathology stages in prostate cancer group(P>0.05).Conclusion:In PCa group, the patients with lower testosterone levels link to the higher the degree of malignant prostate cancer;the higher fasting insulin levels link to the higher Gleason score and the later clinical pathologic staging.Low testosterone may promote the maliginante progression of prostate cancer through body metabolism imbalance...
