Objective To investigate the association of HLA-DRB1,HLA-DQB1 alleles with susceptibility to caries in children and adolescents of the Han and Uygur ethnic i n Urumqi City.Methods The HLA-DRB1 allele frequency were detected both 82 c aries patients and 166 control group in Han people;40 caries patients and 40 contr ol group in Uygur people,by polymerase chain reaction-sequence specific primers(PCR-SSP)method.Results In Han people: The alleles frequency of HLA-DRB1*04,HLA-DRB1*13,HLA-DRB1*14 were significantly higher in patients than that in normal controls,while the allele frequency of HLA-DRB1*09 and HLA-DQB1*02were significantly lower in patients than that in normal controls(P<0.00).In Uygur people The alleles frequency of HLA-DRB1*11,HLA-DRB1*13 were significantly higher in patients than that in normal controls,while the allele frequency of HLA-DRB1*04 and HLA-DRB1*07 significantly lower in patients than that in control s.Conclusion:HLA-DRB1*04,HLA-DRB1*13,HLA-DRB1*14 alleles could be the sus ceptible gene for caries.HLA-DRB1*09 alleles may be the protective gene for cari es in children of the Han ethnic in Urumqi City.However,in Uygur ethnic:HLADRB1*11,HLA-DRB1*13 alleles could be the susceptible gene for caries.HLA-DR B1*04,HLA-DRB1*04 alleles may be the protective gene for caries in Uygur ethn ic.
