Objective:To explore the syndromes characteristics and morbidity discipline of Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease(HFMD)in Heilongjiang province for establishing Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)clinical basis and guiding principles on early prevention and treatment of HFMD in pediatric care. Methods:A prospective clinical epidemiology with cross-sectional survey method adopted for HFMD in children as unit of analysis. The unit of analysis were observed from the day of admission(onset)to 3,5,7 and 10 days of treatment in clinical manifestations. The HFMD syndromes table of characteristics data were collected and established. The information database will provide scientific, clinical and epidemiological analysis of TCM syndromes differentiation and the morbidity discipline of HFMD in children of Heilongjiang province.Results:1.According to the patient distribution, male is more than female and the age are concentrated among 1-4 years old.The total amount decreased after 4 years old.The highest appearance rate on July to September is 73.71%,there were statistically significant(P<0.05)compared with other time intervals. The result indicated that the first 8-10 days of HFMD in children is significantly higher by 51.78%,2.The prevalence of HFMD in children were fever, hand, foot and hip locations of the rash or herpes zoster, core sores or ulcers, sore throat, irritability most commonly diagnosed, amongst others.3.The TCM syndromes distribution analyzed the high incidence rate onthe first and third day in the Evil-Evading-Lung-Wei syndrome, followed by the Heart-Spleen-Heat-Retention syndrome and the Lung-Stomach-Heat-Flaming syndrome.Evil-Evading-Lung-Wei syndrome and Lung-Wei-Yin-Injured syndromes are same high incidence rate on the fifth day. There is most common Lung-Wei-Yin-Injured syndromes on the seventh and tenth days.4.From onset to 3rd day,the incidence of pathogenic factors such as the Evil-Evading-Lung-Wei syndrome was most frequent with symptoms characteristics more prominent than others.Dy 3rd to 5th days, the morbidity analysis for Evil-Evading-Lung-Wei syndrome and the Lung-Stomach Heat-Flame syndrome found most prevalence. The former presented dynamic persistence while the latter presented metastases with damp-heat resistance.Meanwhile, the Heart-Spleen-Heat-Retention syndrome more vulnerable to metastases than its earlier stage.By 5th to 7th days,Ihe prevalence for each syndrome group to recovery increased obviously.Consistently, the characteristic symptoms in each syndrome groups decreased significantly. However,a gradual evolution pattern of Lung-Stomach-Yin-Deprivation syndrome was most in sight.By 7tth to 10th days, most children in HFMD geared towards recovery yet the metastasis of the Lung-Stomach-Yin-Deprivation syndrome and other syndromesmay persist.Conclusion:1.The male children of HFMD were more prevalence than female children in Heilongjiang province, predominantly among age group between 1-4 years while the prevalence rate declined considerable after 4 years old,and the HFMD morbidity was most frequent from July to September in a year.2.The main symptoms for children in HFMD of Heilongjiang province were presented the rash or herpes zosterin hand, foot and hip locations, core sores or ulcers, sore throat, fever and irritability conditions.3.The frequency analysis in TCM syndrome distribution for children in HFMD of Heilongjiang province,Evil-Evading-Lung-Wei syndrome is the most frequence, followed by the Heart-Spleen-Heat-Retention syndrome;Evil-Evading-Lung-Wei syndrome and Lung-Wei-Yin-Injured syndromes are the most frequence on the 5th day;and the Lung-Wei-Yin-Injured syndromes are the most frequence on the 7th and 10th days.4.Children in HFMD of Heilongjiang province presented a dynamic TCM syndrome distribution in the series of disease development. The syndrome evolution pattern and characteristic discipline are uniquely vigorous and difference at various time intervals.
