Objective:To assess the compatible stability of multi-trace elements injection with total parenteral nutrition(TPN)by using HPLC to measure the vitamin B1,vitamin B6 and vitamin C.Methods:1.Use HPLC to evaluate the contents of vitamin B1 and vitamin B6 in different prescriptions at different time points.Meanwhile determine the p H value and observe the appearance at different time, and record the content of 100% at the mixed time.Calculate relative percentage of every tested components to assess the the compatible stability of vitamin B1 and vitamin B6 in different solutions.2.Use HPLC to evaluate the contents of vitamin C in different prescriptions at different time. While evaluate the p H value and observe the appearance at different time.Record the content of vitamin C at mixed time as 100%,then calculate relative percentage of every tested components to assess the compatible stability of vitamin C in different solutions.Results:1.No matter whether added the multi-trace elements solution into the 5% glucose solution that the contents of vitamin B1 and vitamin B6 had declined within 10%.The content of vitamin B1 had declined by 12% after 8h and the content of vitamin B6 had fluctuated within 10% in TPN solution. The solutions including multi-trace elements turned yellow and the others had no significant change. There was no significant change of p H value in solutions.2.The content of vitamin C in the 5% glucose solution which added the multi-trace elements solution had declined by 10%.The vitamin C content had declined by 10% and the solution became yellow in which TPN include multi-trace Elements injection after 4 hour. But the vitamin C content had declined within 10% in 5% glucose solution. There was no significant change of p H value in solution.Conclusions:1.The content of vitamin B1 and vitamin B6 had declined wthin 10% in 5%glucose solution both included multi-trace elements. The content of vitamin B1 had declined more than 12% after 8h and the content of vitamin B6 had fluctuated within10% in total parenteral nutrition solution, maybe the content were influence by the p H value of total parenteral nutrition. There was no significant change of p H value in solution.According to the result, the TPN which included compound trivitamin B and multi-trace elements should inject within 8h.2.The main components of multi-trace elements injection are kinds of heavy metal compound which bad for the stability of vitamin C.The multi-trace elements injection were diluted sufficiently through the big liguid amount of the total parenteral nutrition. The content of vitamin C declined more than 10% in in total parenteral nutrition solution which include multi-trace elements injection.vitamin C is applicable for single use.
