The adverse rising of gastric qi is the pathogenesis of the stomach' s physiological function to perform free downflow. The clinical symptoms include vomiting, hiccup, belching, acid regurgitation, nausea and retching. There is a high incidence of the clinical symptoms of the adverse rising of gastric qi,causes include exogenous and internal injuries, dietary and emotional factors and parasitic malnutrition.Such symptoms contribute to the major or minor manifestations of the disease, and will affect syndrome differentiation and treatment. The formation of the etiology and pathogenesis of the adverse rising of gastric qi is complicated, these diseases are often associated with other diseases, and are uneasy to cure.Zhongjing treats patients from the overall concept and syndrome differentiation. It has substantial content, and is widely concerned.ObjectiveTo consolidate the articles of "Treatise on Febrile Diseases" and"Golden Chamber" by Zhang Zhongjing of the Han Dynasty, and select articles that contain syndromes associating the adverse rising of gastric qi and its corresponding therapeutic principles and prescriptions,to collate and summarize these articles and to perform drug analysis,in order to investigate Zhongjing' s pattern and therapeutic principles to treat the adverse rising of gastric qi.MethodsUsing Treatise on Febrile Diseases,Synopsis of the Golden Chamber as data source, select articles that include symptoms such as vomiting, belching, hiccups and hematemesis.Classify the etiology and pathogenesis according to the eight principles of differentiation.Carry on the statistics of Zhongjing' s usage of drugs according to manifested syndromes.Summarize Zhongjing' s pattern and therapeutic principles.ResultsIn the analysis of these adverse rising of gastric qi related articles,38 articles from Treatise on Febrile Disease(35 for vomiting,3 for hiccups),35 articles from Synopsis of the Golden Chamber(30 for vomiting,3 for hiccups,2 for hematemesis).are selected.According to causes and mechanisms of disease, these articles were further classified into six groups which are:exterior pattern, interior pattern, cold pattern, heat pattern, deficiency pattern and excess pattern. For therapeutic principles, they can be divided into 7 methods which are:disphoresis, purgative method, emetic therapy, harmonization method, warming method,heat-clearing method and tonifying method.ConclusionTo summarize,Zhongjing consider that cold pattern contributes the most according to the pattern identification and treatment of Zhang Zhongjing for adverse rising of gastric qi according to causes and mechanism of disease. For therapeutic principles, they can be divided into seven methods, while warming method, harmonization method and tonifying method contribute the most. For treatment, prescriptions that use warming method contribute the most, and Zhang Zhongjing puts the tonifying of the spleen in front of the lowering of gastric qi.Based on the results, these patterns can be used as references for clinical pattern identification and treatments for adverse rising of gastric qi.
