[Objective]To investigate the expression of resistin-like molecule beta(RELMP)in human non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC)and to explore the relationship between their expression and clinicopathological characteristics.[Methods]1、The expression of RELMP gene and protein in human lung adenocarcinoma cell lines A549 and SK-MES-1,NCI-H460 and 16HBE were detected by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)and Western blot.2、We detected the expression levels of RELMβ in 103 NSCLC and the same patient’s adjacent noncancerous tissue(including 65 with paired lymph node metastases)by RT-PCR and Western blot, and then analyzed their correlation with clinical pathological parameters.[Results]1、A549,SK-MES-1,NCI-H460 and 16HBE cell lines were expressed RELMp mRNA and RELMβ protein, but there are significant different between A549,SK-MES-1 and NCI-H460,16HBE.The expression of RELMβ was decreased gradually from SK-MES-1,NCI-H460,A549 to 16HBE cells.2、Compared with adjacent noncancerous tissue, the mRNA and protein expression levels of RELMβ were increased in lung cancer. The high expression of RELMwas closely associated with the degree of differentiation,TNM staging and lymph node metastasis(P<0.05).[Conclusion]The expression of RELMβ in non small cell lung cancer cells and NSCLC tissues were higher than that in human lung epithelial cell line and adjacent noncancerous tissue. The high expression of RELMβ may contribute to the malignant progression of NSCLC.RELMβ may be a potential tumor factor.
