Objective:To observe the effects of acupuncture at RN 1 for the moderate and sever cognitive impairment after stroke.Methods:58 patients met the inclusion criteria of stroke,by a simple randomization method,were divided into treatment group of 30 cases and the control group of 28 cases.The control group received conventional internal medicine disease therapy,rehabilitation training and cognitive training.The treatment group was added with acupuncture at RN 1 on the basis of control group at once a day with 6 times a week,6 weeks are a course of treatment.Two groups were respectively evaluated with mini-mental state examination(MMSE),Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA)and activities of daily living(ADL).All data was statistically analyzed by SPSS 20.0.Results:Compared with the score before treatment,the score of two groups after 6 weeks treatment was improved on MMSE and MoCA(P<0.01).There was a statistically significant difference in the scores of MMSE and MoCA between treatment group and control group at the end of the treatment(P<0.05).There was a statistically significant difference in the attention and orientation scores of questionnaire MoCA between treatment group and control group after 6-week the treatment(P<0.01).Compared with the score before treatment,the score of two groups after 6 weeks treatment was improved on ADL(P<0.01).There was a statistically significant difference in the scores of ADL between treatment group and control group at the end of the treatment(P<0.05).Conclusion:1.In this study,acupuncture at RN 1 can improve the effect of cognitive impairment after stroke,especially in attention and orientation.2.In this study,acupuncture at RN 1 can improve the daily life ability in patients with cognitive impairment after stroke.
