Comparative Evaluation Of The Endodontic Flare-up After Root Canal Therapy And Analgesic Effect Of Ibuprofen Between Uyghur And Han Patients With Chronic Apical Periodontitis

Objective: Compare the incidence rate of E flare-up(endodontic flare-up,E fl-are-up)and the degree of pain after single-visit root canal therapy between Uyghur and Han patients with chronic apical periodontitis and the effect of Ibuprofen in reducing it,in order to provide a better basis f-or clinical administration.Methods: In the first part of this study,30 Han and 30 Uygur patients with irreversible pulpitis in first or second mand-ibular molar were selected,after single-visit root canal therapy,we selected related factors of patients in 7days.The incidences of E flare-up and FUI value were statistically analyzed.In the second part,We collected250 Uyghur and 250 Han patients with chronic apical periodontitis in their incisor,canine or premolar(tooth with single root canal),and randomly divided into 2 gr-oups separately: experiment group and control group.After single-visit root canal t-herapy,patients in Uyghur experiment group(UEG)and Han experiment group(H-EG)took Ibuprofen capsules and patients in Uyghur control group(UCG)and Ha-n control group(HCG)took inactive starch capsules for 3 days,2 times a day,1capsule for once.Both doctors and patients were kept blind from group situation and drug scheme.Record the degree of E flare-up at 6 hours,12 hours,24 hours,48 hours,72 hours and 1 week after root canal therapy by VAS(visual analogue scale,VAS).Results: In first part,there were 10 patients in Han group got E fla-re-up,the incidences of E flare-up was 33.3%,the mean value of FUI was 0.75;in Uyghur group,there were 16 patients got E flare-up,the incidences of E flare-u-p was 53.3%,the mean value of FUI was 2.00.Uyghur group had higher inciden-ces of E flare-up and mean value of FUI than Han group.During the second part of our experiment,the incidence of E flare-up in different groups in orders from high to low was: UCG>HCG>UEG>HEG,χ2 test showed that there were signifi-cant differences between any two groups.Overall time distribution,in all groups,most of the E flare-up happened between 24~48 hours after root canal therapy with the highest degree.No matter the incidence or the degree of E flare-up,the gap was bigger and much more significant between HEG and HCG than UEG and UCG.Conclusion: Uyghur patients with chronic apical periodontitis have a higher in-cidence rate of E flare-up than Han patients;Ibuprofen can reduce and prevent E flare-up for both Uyghur and Han patients,but it has better effect for Han patients.
