Analysis Of SHBG Level And Its Related Factors In Middle-aged To Elderly Uygur Males Of Xinjiang

Objective:To investigate the changes of sex hormone binding globulin(SHBG)levels in middle-aged and elderly Uygur males in Xinjiang and its correlation with influencing factors.For the clinical application of serum SHBG to provide more guidance.Methods:A randomized sampling method was used to select cross-sectional survey of residents of 3 towns and 4 townships in Tokson County and Erdaoqiao Area of Urumqi,Xinjiang.A total of 620 basic Uygur males over 45 years old in September-December 2015 were included.Basic information includes height,weight,waist circumference,blood pressure.The results of laboratory tests included sex hormone-binding globulin(SHBG),testosterone(TT),fasting blood glucose(FBG),OGTT2 h blood glucose(PBG),glycosylated hemoglobin(HbAlC),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(TC),uric acid(UA),fasting insulin(Ins),vitamin D(VitD)and osteocalcin(OST).The body mass index(BMI),homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance(HOMA-IR).The BMI and the HOMA-IR were calculated by the formula.According to serum SHBG levels were divided into low and normal levels were divided into two groups.Comparison of differences between the two groups of indicators.To explore the relationship between SHBG and the above indicators.Results:The levels of TT,Ins,HOMA-IR and LDL-C in the low-level SHBG group were higher than those in the normal group,while the age,systolic blood pressure and VitD level were lower than those in the normal group(P<0.05).Using Spearman rank correlation analysis,in Uighur males who are over 45 years old,age,systolic blood pressure,diastolic blood pressure,BMI,HDL-C,VitD and OST were positively correlated with SHBG(r=0.347,r=0.158,r=0.125,r=0.097,r=0.102,r=0.439,r=0.116),while BG,TG,LDL-C,TT,Ins and HOMA-IR were negatively correlated with SHBG(r=0.167,r=0.088,r=-0.424,r=-0.168,r=-0.725,r=-0.718),(P<0.05).Regression analysis showed that the protective factors of low SHBG were age,HDL-C and Vit D,while FBG,LDL-C,HOMA-IR,Ins and TT were the risk factors.Conclusion:For the middle-aged and elderly Uygur males,age,HDL-C,VitD may be an independent protective factor for low-level SHBG.
